Safeguarding
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Whether you are a paid worker, a volunteer or a member of the public.
DBS checks are just one tool that you can use to check someone’s suitability to work with a vulnerable person. You should also carry out references and have a face to face interview.
As part of your safeguarding duty you should also have a single central record. This should include full name, home address, DBS check details (which include the documents seen for this purpose), proof of right to work in the UK with their role and start date.
If you have any safeguarding concerns you can contact Angela for an informal chat. Angela has run her own Safeguarding Training Company since 2013. Telephone 01353 666 166 or email [email protected].
If you wish to have training delivered direct to your organisation (please note that this is not free), please contact [email protected]
You can find Charity Commission guidance at The Charity Commission – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
